How to Use the Fiction Book Description Builder

The Fiction Book Description Builder is a guided tool for authors who want to write a stronger fiction book description for their sales page, book blurb, or back cover summary. Instead of having AI generate vague copy, this tool helps you build your own description step by step using proven story elements such as character, conflict, escalation, stakes, and a final hook.

To get started, choose your genre and enter your book title, protagonist details, and the key story elements that shape your novel. The builder walks you through each section of the description, including the setup paragraph, the central complication, what the conflict forces your character to do, how the pressure escalates, what is at stake, and the final line that leaves readers wanting more.

If you’re writing cozy mystery or cozy fantasy, you can also turn on Cozy Mode. This adds prompts for atmosphere, community, and restoration so your description reflects the warmth, charm, and sense of place readers expect from cozy fiction.

As you write, the live preview updates instantly so you can see exactly how your fiction book description will read. You can also choose a Genre and Load Genre Example to read an example for inspiration and get a feeling for the flow.

The tool also reviews your draft for useful signals such as clear stakes, strong momentum, paragraph structure, specificity, and hook strength. This makes it easier to revise your copy until it feels sharp, marketable, and true to your story.

Click Blurb Doctor after filling in all the fields to see your score, a breakdown of the scoring criteria, and some insights as to what’s working and what might benefit from a bit of revision. If you hover over any of the elements from the Points Breakdown, it will not only provide you with an explanation of your score, but also highlight the key words or phrases in the preview that contributed to that score, if applicable.

When you’re happy with the result, use the Copy Text or Copy HTML buttons to paste your completed novel description wherever you need it, including your website, retailer pages, launch materials, or promotional graphics. You can also load an example for your genre if you want to see the structure in action before writing your own.
