Frequently Asked Questions

We offer a 30-day refund so you can try The Bookshelf with confidence.

If you register a domain through The Bookshelf, your refund will be reduced by $20 to cover the cost of securing your domain. We believe your custom domain should always stay yours, even if you leave. It’s your name, your brand, your home on the internet and you can take it wherever you want, no strings attached.

The direct sales tools are currently in development and expected to roll out in mid-2026. We’re not announcing a specific date yet, because we want to ensure the launch is smooth, secure, and built correctly for authors. That’s why your subscription doesn’t begin until direct sales are live. In the meantime, you’re getting bonus months of your Bookshelf account for free.

You'll start building your Bookshelf website using a temporary subdomain assigned by The Bookshelf (don't worry, it's not public in any way and no one will see it). When you're ready to launch your website, reach out to our support team and we'll walk you through the steps of connecting your domain to your new site and getting it launched!

We roll out new templates often, so be sure to check our template library frequently to find one that suits your needs. But also remember that every template is fully editable, and the Style function in the builder is meant to help you easily edit elements across your site to uniformly match your author brand. So even if there isn't a "perfect" starting template for you, we encourage you to select one that feels like the closest fit, then make edits to it that align with your brand and needs.
