Early Adopter Subscriptions
If you've joined The Bookshelf during its early beta release, we want to thank you! Our team is thrilled to have you on board as a trailblazer for the platform.
Our goal in opening The Bookshelf up to Early Adopters is to provide a space for authors to begin building their websites and join us as the platform continues to rapidly develop and grow. We want authors like you to be some of the strongest voices telling us what you love, what needs improvement, and what you'd like to see next.
This is a special subscription available for a limited time, and if you're unsure what it consists of or if you're considering joining us as an Early Adopter but want to learn more first, you're in the right place.
Subscription Structure
As an Early Adopter, you access The Bookshelf at a discounted price for one year. Once that first year of your subscription has passed, if you choose to renew and stay, your subscription will renew at the full, non-discounted price for an additional year. You can alternatively elect to renew your subscription on a monthly basis at that time if preferred. Monthly subscriptions are not available at Early Adopter rates.
But our Early Adopter subscription model looks a little different than most one-year platform subscriptions do.
Because one of The Bookshelf's central offerings is the creation of a direct sales storefront where you can sell your books, and our team is still working on building and releasing those features to the platform, your Early Adopter subscription does not officially begin until those features become live and accessible to you.
So even though you gain immediate access to your Bookshelf account when you sign up, and can use all of its currently-available features (including building and launching a fully-functional website), the one-year timer on your subscription will not begin until we release our direct sales store features. This means you're getting additional months of access and use of your Bookshelf account on top of the one-year subscription you've paid a discounted rate for.
When Things Change
There will be no action for you to take when your one-year subscription officially begins—it will occur automatically when our direct sales store features are first released to the platform. You will have immediate access to these direct sales features, and will be notified via an email announcement when that occurs. Be sure to note that date as the date your one-year subscription to The Bookshelf officially begins. This means that 365 days from that date, your account will auto-renew at the full one-year price with the card on file unless you make billing adjustments prior to then inside your account.
Who Early Adopter Subscriptions are For
In short, they're for everyone! Any author at any stage of publishing, even if you're pre-published, is welcome to join The Bookshelf as an Early Adopter. It's a fantastic option for anyone who might be on a budget, or anyone simply looking for an author-focused website builder that makes the process more easy and streamlined. It's also a great option for planning ahead if direct sales are your goal, and you simply want to gain access to the platform at a discounted rate in preparation for those features rolling out.
But remember, as an Early Adopter, you are among the first beta users of this new platform. As such, you're also a trailblazer helping our team to decide what features come next, and will be first in line when they do. Though it's by no means required, our team wants you to be vocal with us about your experience with and hopes for The Bookshelf. We want to collaborate with the authors this platform is built for to make it the most useful it can be, and we can't do that without you.
If you'd like to contact our team with any questions or suggestions about The Bookshelf, you can always reach us directly at support@thebookshelf.io. We also have an online community available that you can join if you have a Bookshelf account and would like to have more free-form conversations with our team and other Early Adopter Trailblazers. Feel free to contact our support team if you'd like to receive that community invitation.
